12/19
- "Tastes Like Chicken" It has taken
us 9 months, but we finally ventured out and tried the local Kentucky
Fried Chicken. Pictured is the largest "bucket" of chicken you can
buy. It is a 10 piece box and it cost 1820 YEN. That is about $18.
Chicken is all you get, no biscuits, no mashed potatoes and no gravy.
I tried to buy some Mac & Cheese, but I quickly learned they don't carry
it. Instead they served up a tasty portion of Pasta and
Mushroom Au Gratin. YUCK! Over all the chicken tasted just
like the KFC we love in the states. I have to admit, I did worry
about Bird Flu. My germ and Bird Flu issues resolved as the grease
ran down my fingers.
Life is still good on Okinawa. My big
excitement of the week is that we get to keep our A/C on until January
when they will do maintenance. Although it is in the upper 60's
and low 70's here I still like being able to turn the A/C on.
More updates to the Cake Lady Cakes page to come soon. Like Riley
says...."Peace Out"

12/9 - Below my hotel in Korea there
was a Build a Bear. So I took time to make Riley a new bear named Riley
(am I creative or what?). You can see all of the build a bear pictures
by clicking on the picture. Let me warn you that the woman walking me
through the process was asking me to step outside of my comfort zone,
hence the faces in the pictures.

If you are a frequent traveler like me a webcam is the best way to go to
stay in touch with the family! Even though it is sometimes a pain
(literally) lugging around a 10lb computer not to include all of the
accessories, it is well worth it when I get to see the fam.

For all that don't know this is my friend Sonia who now knows that Monty
and cold don't mix! Korea had some pretty cold days and let's just say I
wasn't properly prepared... I still had a blast. You can see some of
Sonia's pictures from Korea by going to Sonia's Korean Pics link on the
right side of this page. Once I get the pics from Sonia I will post
more. Until next time enjoy the Christmas tune.

12/8 - Well folks I am back from
Korea! Let me say that this has been my best trip to date. I think this
picture sums up my trip a.k.a. Adventure with Sonia. This is a picture
of me and Sonia having dinner with some South Korean Marines. After
dinner they took us to a Marine store. We were like kids in a candy
store. If I had more money I may have put him out of business. One thing
I did learn is that all Marines are the same regardless of the country.
We have the same morals, egos and high standards.

Here is some of the stuff I bought. The first picture shows some
stickers and my cool Korean name tapes. The second and third picture are
of my Korean Marine Corps tee shirt.

Also while in Korea I bought a Bears football jersey and as you can see
I am not the only Bears fan in the family:)
More to come in a few days...

12/2
- Well as you can see Christmas time in the Quailes household has begun.
Before I get to far into the Christmas talk let me tell you about
Thanksgiving. We had about 9 Marines over from my office and we had a
great time. Sam cooked a killer meal and we ate twice. We also played
games and watched movies. Another successful Thanksgiving at the Quailes
house. Ok as you can see from the pictures Riley wanted to help with the
tree and it took a really long time to put it up, but that's ok. Before
you know we will be putting the tree up and Riley will be saying how
Daddy is slowing her down.

Today was the Camp Courtney Christmas Festival. We had a good time and
as you can see we got a picture with the main man! We just had to wait
in line for about 45 mins. The festival had American and Japanese food,
games to win prizes, live performances and kids bouncy houses.

Well ladies and gentlemen, here is Sam with her Thanksgiving spread.
These pictures were taken at the Arts and Crafts center were she takes
her flower arranging classes.
Tomorrow I am off again to Korea. I am looking forward to this trip
because I get to see my friend Sonia. It isn't often you get to meet old
friends in foreign countries. Until next time... |
